Yahoo! Search Bingin’ It Up
Microsoft and Yahoo! have reached a deal and Yahoo! search will be no more. Yahoo!’s search engine will now be powered by Bing – Microsoft’s new search engine ‘baby’. Bing seems to be on the right track so far, unlike its ancestors – MSN and Live search.
What will this mean for SEO? Basically, when this gets implemented there will be two major search engines on the block to worry about – Google and Bing. Many believe that this move of Microsoft and Yahoo! joining forces will enable them to better take on the massive beast that is Google. Others aren’t so certain – “Take two mediocre search engines, put them together, and you get one big bubble of mediocricy” they say. I’m skeptical that anything could combat Google’s massive market share right now, but hey – good on them for trying.
